We want to be an employer of choice, and to attract and retain talented employees. To achieve this, we are empowering our leaders and managers, building a sustainable talent pipeline, and operating more effectively and inclusively.

  • We engaged with employees to redefine our company culture and purpose
  • We continued to invest in our two leadership programmes: Leadership Edge and Pioneer
  • We launched a new leadership programme – Frontier - focused on supervisors managing production teams
  • We extended our Elevate women’s leadership development programme to include nearly 300 participants in 2018.

Maintaining an injury-free workplace

Every day, we make the safety of our employees and those who work with us the highest priority. A healthy and safe working environment is fundamental to the way we work.

In 2018, our employee total incident frequency rate (TIR), or recordable incident rate, was 0.45.

Since 2016 (our current baseline year), our incident frequency rate has fallen by 13% (from 0.52) and the lost time incident frequency rate (LTIFR) has fallen by 17% (0.23 to 0.19).

Overall, we have maintained our position in the top quartile of safety performance in our sector.
